Originally from Ontario, Canada, I hAve always had a passion for writing, travel & photography.
As a child, I grew up going on yearly holidays with my family, mostly around Canada and the United States. However, my craving for the excitement and adventure of international travel abroad was initially sparked the year I graduated university.
In 2016 I had just graduated from nursing school and was about to begin my amazing and truly rewarding career as a Registered Nurse.
But to celebrate four years of hard work and dedication to this profession during my years of study, I decided to take a graduation celebration trip before starting my new job. 4 days in England and 12 days in Ireland was all it took for me to absolutely fall in love with traveling the world, and I have never looked back since!
From that moment on I did everything I could to travel.
I went back to Canada and started my new job as a nurse, but I was constantly daydreaming about when or where my next trip would be. I kept a casual contract at my hospital so that I could pack up and go on my next adventure whenever I had saved up enough funds again.
I typically did 2-3 week holidays, but my first huge trip was a 4 month backpacking tour across Europe. It took me almost one year of saving and countless months of planning before I was able to head off, but finally in the summer of 2018 I was ready to go.
During this trip I traveled to 10 different countries, visited countless cities and made some unbelievable memories abroad!
Some of my favourite memories include tubing on a giant hotdog off the coast of Sorrento, seeing Mumford & Sons at Sziget festival in Budapest, exploring my Dad’s birthplace of São Miguel, ATV riding in the mountains of Anti Paros, watching the sunset in Oia, dancing on tables at Oktoberfest, paragliding above the beaches of Fethiye, riding in a hot air balloon amongst hundreds of others at sunrise in Cappadocia and my favourite memory of all – all the incredible people I met along the way.
I thought that this trip would finally “cure” me of my reluctance to “settle down”.
I really believed that once I came home I would be ready to get a full time job, buy a house and do all the other things I was taught I should be doing by this age. However, this was not the case.
My time spent in Europe only made me crave adventure & exploration even more! So it was at this time I decided to go abroad once again, but this time, taking my nursing career with me!
I applied with the regulatory nursing board in Australia and started planning my next adventure. Fast forward 7 months I had given up my apartment, my job & my fears, and I was ready to hop on a flight to Melbourne, Australia!
Living and working abroad has just continued to fuel my passion and interest in travel, hence the reason for starting this website.
I am hoping that I can use this blog to create a sense of community with like-minded individuals who have an excitement for exploring and seeing new places. I hope that by sharing my adventures with all of you that you too will embrace the joys of adventuring abroad!
